Debrecen is a city in Hungary in the eastern part of the country. The city is about 30 kilometers from the western border with Romania. More than 200,000 people live in the city and it is the second largest city in the country after the capital. The city is also interesting for cultural travelers and is the tourist center in the eastern region of the country. There is also an international airport in the city. The city can also be reached daily with a EuroCity train connection via the capital.

The Great Reformed Church in the city is worth seeing. This is the landmark from 1819. The church is also the largest Calvinist church in the country. The Reformed College is also worth seeing as a baroque building from 1568. This baroque building was damaged by a town fire in 1802 and rebuilt in the classicist style in 1816. The Deri Museum with its well-known art collection is also worth a visit. CsokonaiSzinhaz (Opera and Theater – built 1861-1865) is a must when sightseeing in the city.
