Around Ottawa, the capital of Canada, there is plenty of nature in which tourists can really unfold and also camp. In fact, the best way to discover the wild, wide Canadian countryside is to go camping. The reason for this is that the Canadian capital has much more to offer than just public parks, culture in the form of museums and a diverse nightlife. For example, not far from the city limits is the idyllic Gatineau Park with its forests, lakes and hills. Over 200 species of birds and over 50 species of mammals live in the park area, which is more than 350 square kilometers in size. Another park, Parc Omega is located about 80 kilometers from Ottawa. So there is a lot of nature around the city.
Spacious and wild
Wild camping is forbidden for tourists and locals in Canada and also far too dangerous because of the many wild animals. However, tents and camping are allowed on one of the numerous campsites that are located in the middle of the vast wilderness. For example, camping is available not far from the city at the Wesley Clover Parks Campground or at Ottawa’s Poplar Grove RV Park. In these places there is almost untouched wilderness and the opportunity for camping, fishing and hiking and cozy evenings around the campfire included.
