Holidays by the sea usually mean relaxation. It’s the same when you go on vacation to Cascais in Portugal. Sun and sea lure you there, and that about 25 kilometers away from the Portuguese capital and thus in the outer west of the popular holiday country. More specifically, it’s a town that sits on a sandy bay of the Atlantic Ocean, which sits across a marina with around 600 berths. The city is characterized by tourism and is ideal for a holiday trip for lovers or couples, but also for families. On the western outskirts is the Farol de Guia lighthouse. This lighthouse is easily accessible via the N247, Avenida Nossa Senhora do Cabo. The lighthouse offers a breathtaking backdrop with the steep walls there. Further west of the city is the Boca do Inferno, a cliff washed away by the sea. Especially in the evening hours, the sun and sea are particularly picturesque here – i.e. when the sun seems to be sinking into the sea.
Sports on the coast
Cascais is well known among golf fans. Because there are two golf courses near the main road on the sea side to the west of the city, which offer golf fans a good place to relax. However, the beautiful surroundings are the main reason why most people come to this place in Portugal for a vacation.
