Bristol – arguably the most beautiful city in England
Located in the south west of England, the current urban area of Bristol, with an area of 110 square kilometers, extends near the beautiful sea coast of the Atlantic. The hilly metropolis is inhabited by around 460 thousand people who love art and culture. This city gained international fame primarily through its art and music scene. Huge, colorful graffiti characterize the cityscape as well as the many small cafes and restaurants along the waterfront and at the busy port of the Avon city river. The imposing suspension bridge “Clifton Suspension Bridge”, which rests on two large stone pillars, is also unmistakable. At a breathtaking 75 meters, it carries traffic across the deep gorge of the River Avon. Today the cultural center of the region, the former industrial city has become a popular place of residence for young English people. No wonder, because numerous bars and pubs invite you to social evenings.
Backpackers in England’s South West
Just pack your backpack and go. A dream of many young people and young at heart adventurers. The journey takes her to the city of street art, in the south west of England – to Bristol. The city, very typically British, but always a little different. It presents itself as a lively, compact city and fascinates by the many colorful individualists who are bustling in the city. Whether on foot, by bus or a stylish bike, this city can be discovered comfortably and within short distances. For example, you can stroll up the mountain from the pretty old town to the imposing Clifton. Here, elegant townhouses are lined up with perfectly maintained front gardens and in turn represent a successful contrast to the hustle and bustle in the city below. The subsequent boat trip on the River Avon makes every backpacker’s eyes shine. Over the years, the existing factory buildings on the Avon waterfront have been transformed into offices, company premises, hip galleries and, of course, bars, restaurants and pubs. There, right on the river, you can watch small and slightly larger sailing boats that can be carried across the river by the wind. This city is truly a city full of surprises and creative artists. On the way through the old town you will pass a variety of exhibitions, in the most winding corners and alleys, which can be visited many times for free and thus allow full enjoyment of art and still protect the backpacker’s budget.
Earn a living as a street artist
Life as a backpacker is often limited to the essentials, something to drink, a few tasty snacks for on the go and a menu from the fast food restaurant every now and then. Mobility and a roof over your head are also existential. But of course there is also the question of how to get money when you need it. You don’t want to use up all your reserves and earn a few extra pounds to counter any eventualities.
In a city like Bristol, there are many opportunities for creative street artists. It doesn’t matter whether you want to captivate the audience with your music or courageous acrobatics. If you like, you can present your artistic streak in one of the many alleys or squares in the city. Portraits or pictures of the famous suspension bridge enchant the passing tourists and bring one or two pounds to the travel budget. The cosmopolitan nature of the Bristolers and their tourists leaves all options open to backpackers. Of course, it takes some courage and a healthy dose of self-confidence to take out your guitar on the waterfront and to play the familiar and the new. However, one thing is guaranteed, with a little luck and talent, every backpacker will be able to make a living here with the help of street art.
