On the crystal clear sea of Greece, visitors treat themselves to a vacation and let themselves be enchanted by beautiful islands like Rhodes. The island offers beautiful bays, sunny beaches, Greek hospitality, excellent cuisine and much more. There is a mixture of antiquity and modernity here. The forest farming villages and shopping miles of Rhodes Town, surfing beaches on the west coast and party spots like Faliráki, ancient columns in Líndos and Byzantine churches with ancient frescoes are less than thirty kilometers apart. For a few hundred years, this city was larger and more powerful than today’s capital and was considered the art metropolis of Hellas. This is best experienced at the Acropolis of Líndos, which is one of the most important ancient sights in Greece.
Offer for divers
Several diving schools offer beginner courses and excursions. Those interested in active holidays can book courses at the diving boats at Mandráki Harbor and in larger hotels. The rocky coast at the thermal baths of Kallithéa is the most popular diving spot, with the island’s major diving schools operating here regularly. Scuba diving (diving with tanks) is only permitted with the guidance of such authorized schools. Otherwise it is forbidden to prevent treasure diving for ancient objects. But holidaymakers are allowed to snorkel everywhere, although the sandy coasts are of course less interesting for their underwater world than the rocky sections such as at the thermal baths or at Kolýmbi or at Cape Ladikó near Faliráki.
